For some time now, I have been thinking about all the things we invent. The telephone, the internet... for communication of long distances. Vehicles, rockets, ships, etc... for transportation. Medicine and medical technology for our health.

It just strikes me that we continue to invent things that help us to do things that we COULD do without all the technology... in spirit instead.

Sometimes I think of it as us trying to do things on our own, so that we do not have to have God's help. Because if we had remained with Him, He (and His Son) could have taught us how to move about, communicate over long distances, and heal (if there was any need to heal from something)... all via power of the spirit.

So we build a way to do it instead. Sort of like taking the long road... when one day we're going to realize that it was all within our grasp (with God and Spirit) from the beginning.

Just some musings I thought I would share. Thoughts?

Peace,
tammy

Good point tec

:) That is even more distraction (as if we are not enough) that leads us away from our master. A physical/fleshly/faithless generation!!!!

Thanks for sharing

Whilst this technology is nice, I do think it takes the living out of living.

Without this marvelous computer, maybe I would have to resort to getting out and interacting with real people in the flesh and blood. (Not saying your all not real, you will get my point).

I see these young people, even when in each others company, they are alone with their mobile phones doing what ever it is that they do on them.

Instead of getting around on a device of inorganic steel and alloy in the shape of a car or motorcycle, I might be riding a horse, have you ever ridden a horse people?, it really is living, you are a part of God creation rather than being cocooned from it.

Even the washing machine, when I see those African women washing their clothes together in the river, all singing together, they look like they are living, not sitting alone watching some other people pretend to live on the TV whilst their washing machine robs them of their own life.

I don't mind technology or anything of the sort, or think it is bad. I sure do use my fair share and then some, lol.

I just... it just seems like a middle-man. One we need right now because we are limited, but in the beginning we would not have needed, and in the end, we won't. Because we won't be so... limited... then.

I don't think I know how to convey my thoughts properly. I'll think on it some more.

Peace,
tammy

Its an ongoing process, like everything else we must walk before we run.
There will come a time when we will be able to "manipulate" matter and energy but till then, we must "evolve" accordingly.

Tec,

I think I understand what you mean, it replaces our search. We might look for a novel solution if the escape route was not right in front of us.

Technology can inhibit our vision making us short sighted. I was thinking of this the other day, I looked up at the sky and realized that in ancient times people could tell times and season by the stars. They were very aware of what was going on, and the stories it told. Today how many of us pay attention?

I like technology it eases life, however easy is not always the best in the long run, and some of the deepest answers to our questions cannot be found there.

I wasn't really thinking that way for this post, LeAnn, but I have had those thoughts as well.

I remember thinking before (naively) that because we were more advanced, that we were smarter. I just took that for granted. We knew more, so we were... wiser, is a better word I guess. So when I read in ancient texts, the wisdom of long ago, I was brought up short, lol. They seemed a lot wiser then, than we are now. Maybe that is just me though

I think technology (and I am not knocking it, at all) does make it easier for us to be lazy, for us to DO more, but not necessarily learn or know or understand more about life and how to live. Kept in perspective though, the discoveries from it can also open us up to possibilities we might not have thought about otherwise.

So I guess it is like anything... in that what we do with it is what matters as to where it leads us.

Peace,
tammy
