Please, no need to apologize. It is the flow of a live discussion. I do not mind. I am happy I triggered you to exchange your thoughts.

I thought people might be interested to read this article on the inheritance of fair or blond hair. I came across it quite by chance. It's very relevant to the case of fair-haired Roma.

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/gnxp/ ... m9ixqsgHCR

Zoe, you remarked earlier on the little Bulgarian girl with red hair that you thought must have been dyed. It wasn't. That child appeared in different lighting in a later news story when the mother appeared with several of her children for a TV broadcast ( which I thought and the BBC said felt a bit like trial by TV.)

Anyway, there the little red-haired girl whom I'd put no older than 2, showed as having normal though bright ginger hair. My ten year old grandson has similarly bright "carrots" hair. Neither of his pRents has red hair and his sister is very fair, but red hair is present in the family history on both sides of the family.

Whew that article about blonde hair in Oceania people was way complicated, but those little Roma kids definitely have some throw back gene.
I have read about genetics and red hair (carrot hair and freckles) and that is actually quite more uncommon and amazing when no one else in the family is red haired. I think both parents have to have the gene for it to happen if I remember rightly?
There are no carrot tops in my family that I know of but a uncle on my Dad's side had red hair not orange and was from Scotland where red hair is common.

This family I grew up with in Perth Ontario Canada (these poor people got converted to be JW's by my parents) had 12 children (15 actually but 3 died), The dad was a carrot top freckle face and the Mom was fair skinned with black hair, Name was Drysdale which is Scottish. The kids came out either Carrot top freckle face or dark hair or blonde, quite a mixture and every time she popped out a baby we didn't know what we were going to see lol. I still can rhyme off their names and their coloring lol, I lived with them a few times when my parents traveled. This family were dairy farmers, lived off the land, had no electricity or indoor plumbing, it was quite an adventure to stay with them especially because there was 10 boys and only 2 girls and while I stayed with them there was only 1 girl. The last girl and child was born after most of the kids my age were married.
Ronnie - dark haired, fair skin, Terry brown hair with freckles, Nancy - carrot top with freckles, David - dark hair with fair skin, Kenny reddish brown hair, freckles, Paul - Carrot top with freckles, Keith - blonde, Eric - carrot top with freckles, Frank -red head, Lynn (boy) - blonde, Diane - red head not carrot. there is another boy but can't remember his name as I was disfellowshipped when he was born.

Thanks for sharing that, dear Char (mornin' and peace to you... and to you all!). Amazing what just a LITTLE education can wrought, yes? Even if it's only an article. Or perhaps some verses. Let's add that to the things that can cure prejudice: along with travel and love... even just a education, which doesn't have to come from a university but maybe a little "personal research"... which would include READING.

I do NOT mean to aim this at you, dear Zoe (peace, luv!)... not at ALL... and your experience with the Drysdales shows you know how a "litter" can produce MANY appearances in the "pups" - LOLOLOL! - but it absolutely AMAZES me, in this day and age (of the INTERNET)... how many in the WESTERN world... and any who call themselves "christians"... STILL... live in the dark so as to prejudices like that shown in little Maria's case.

I can't see ANY... VALID... excuse for it. There is no longer any REASON to be ignorant.

Peace!

A slave of Christ,

Shellamar

My apologies, too, dear ANOMOS (peace!). Forgive ALL of us ladies; we're sort of hard-wired to be able to carry on more than one discussion at a time. Sometimes even a discussion within a discussion. As you saw here. Didn't'ja know, though, that we can do it literally... like at the same time in REAL time... and not just by reading and responding to static posts??? YEP! We CAN!! We often DO! So, please, don't take it personally, if you can - we're girls. Sorry - LOLOL!

Peace!

Your servant and a slave of Christ,

Shellamar

It's not the right link. I watched all through adverts and something that looked like a trailer for a crime show or else very dumbed down news. I watched all through the clip thinking maybe that's the way American programmes work. But nothing relevant at all.

Well, can you give us an idea what it actually said, Zoe? If it's actual news it'll be somewhere else on the bet and we can find it
