28 October is the national day of commemorating WWII in Greece. The regime once again decided to have a parade with students and army. We don't want it.

All those who possess a few grams of brains inside their scull. ;-)

Parades were introduced in Greece during the fascist dictatorship of Metaxas prior to WWII. Time to get rid of them. If you watch related videos you will see that, unlike the past, only a minority watches those parades. Plus that the regime forbids people who want to watch even their relatives parading for security reasons.

What are the parades supposed to represent. I know you said it is to commemorate WWII... but what about it specifically? And why does no one want to have the parade to commemorate it?

Just trying to understand.

Peace,
tammy

Other countries don't have them. There can be other forms of celebrations, gatherings, theatrical plays... Aside half a dozen war heroes (who have the right to parade) all the rest are dead or unable to even get out of their rooms due to their advanced age.
We do not want a propaganda parade to show the country's weapons and army. We want peace.

I see and your feelings make sense to ME, dear ANOMOS (peace to you!)... but for some, patriotism is VERY important and victory at war is one reason to have love for and faith in one's country. That the war may have been fought (and hopefully won - LOL!) many decades... heck, centuries... ago is irrelevant.

We have Veterans' Day here (which apparently encompasses ALL U.S. wars since the Revolution but that one kinda has it's own day, the 4th of July, and there parades, fireworks, carnivals/fairs, and more for that!)... and it's often celebrated with parades (most certainly in the heartland and Bible Belt).

What can you to, though? Per Christ:

"To him that calls for the honor, [give] the honor; to him that calls for the tribute, [give] the tribute."

And such parades used to be a display to honor soldiers and give tribute to war heroes (ya'll remember the old ticker tape exhibitions, with generals in cars and tanks and such rolling through the streets to commemorate a war victory, don't you?)

Perhaps one day those with real intelligence but who continue to foment such festivities will see them for what they really are... the glorification of war... and stop participating. Maybe.

Peace... truly... and so, not just the absence of war!

Your servant and a slave of Christ,

Shellamar

They do it because they love war, they are not real patriots but nationalists. There is huge vast gap between a patriot and a nationalist.
