A thought. I wonder why we don't have raccoons here? I mean, many of our animals have close cousins in North America. I wonder why raccoons don't have an equivalent here? Does anyone know? Pup?

They are better at hiding over there ;P

Raccoons look SO cute (especially the babies!)... and can be SO dangerous, dear Pup (good morning, peace to you... and thanks for those VERY cute pics!). They can be quite large... and... they're virtually fearless! I gotta coupla-few raccoon stories, but I won't bore you dear ones with them. Let's just say my grandfather always warned us to NOT put our fingers in his "pet" raccoon's cage. MORE than he warned us about putting them (our fingers) in the hog pen (which was an absolute NO-NO. One can play with baby piglets but one CANNOT go anywhere NEAR the hog pen - they WILL eat you!).

Shellama, on her own... who LOVES the cute pics... but hates "squillies" (what her offspring called squirrels when they were learning to talk)... 'cause they're almost like rats running all over one place she lived. In the trees, in the eaves, under the house, in the streets... {{{{{{Shudder}}}}}}

Ooh how my puppy would be jealous of that raccoon right now. He is obsessed with squirrels. Don't know what he'd actually do to one if he caught one. He wants to play with them so bad. We have a park and it is squirrel heaven with trees. My puppy is out of his mind chasing them. That's his exercise for the day! Dirt kickin up and all. It's hilarious.

Naw girl, I'll take a squirrel over a rat ANY DAY !

I grew up with squirrels in my neighborhood, not scared at all, but I don't wanna see no dang rat on the sidewalks or lawns, only place I see 'em are on the tracks, but of course there are some subway stations where they are quite bold, and that's all I'll say, I know where to and where not to stand when I frequent those stations.
