So it has been more than a couple of months now since Mrs Smith and I went to a meeting. In the last week or so people must have started to notice as we have received a couple of text and Facebook messages. Still absolutely NOTHING from any elder. Loving concerned shepherds? Heeeeeeell no.

It has been interesting reading the banal, emotionless, and stock standard (and therefore meaningless) phrases coming from God's chosen people i.e. "true Christians." This what we have received:

"Thinking of you."

"Thinking of you, I had a bible study today and her husband said she shouldn't study but she said she wants to keep on, Jehovah will help her."

"Didn't see you at the CA it was about guarding our mind. Meditation is medication."

"How are you guys? Been thinking of you."

I swear to Thor if I hear the phrase "thinking of you" again, I am going to vomit. What an utterly meaningless phrase when coming from people who obviously have no interest in you.

Compare this with a message we got from a non JW friend (a Muslim in fact) who knows that we are fading:

"I know things must be difficult for you, hang in there. If you ever need anything from me just call and I will come straight over. Take care!"

LOL JWs, you fail, and you fail hard.

Ah, Winston, your experience in this regard mirrors mine!

Here, they tell me how much they miss me. They're missing me SO much!

Actually, they are missing me much less now, for it's 15 months since I went. And, of course, after the PO visited me last autumn, I wrote and told him not ever to do so again. However, because this is a comparatively small community, I see inevitably individuals out and about. Some shun me, like the old lady I saw a few weeks ago. Some kind of do a double-take and then you can see the wheels turning as they choose how they're going to react, according to the circumstances of the encounter. And according to who they are, as well.

I marvel at some "christians," "Jews", and others who think they are "better" than (some) Muslims, dear WS (peace to you... and "I'm thinking of you, dear folks" -LOLOLOL!). One of the most gentle men I've ever known in my life is Muslim. A dear friend at one time, who I've lost contact with for some years (I need to ask my son about him, now that I think of it - thank you for reminding me!).

They somehow forget that Ishmael (the "father" of Islam) was Abraham's seed, too. And so, they, too, await "Messiah" (although I can't remember their name for him, just now). It was Abraham's seed... from the EAST (the Magi)... who said they'd followed Christ's star to Bethlehem. So many are going to be surprised as to who is given entry to the kingdom ("Come, inherit the kingdom prepared for you... because I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink." "Lord, when did we see you thirsty?" "To the extent you did it to the least of these, my brothers, you did it to me")... and who isn't ("Lord, Lord, didn't we do such and so in your name?" "Get away from me... I never knew you!").

Anyway, sorry you're experiencing the typical JW "form" of "godly devotion"... and that it's STILL "proving false to its power." Ah, well... what can you do?

Peace... to you and the Mrs.!

YOUR servant and a slave of Christ,

SA

I have heard it said that the general Muslim populace view the extremists in much the same way as Christians view the Westboro Baptist Church - an ugly embarrassment.

Our Muslim friend and her family quietly go about their faith and I wish people of all religions would do the same.

These friendships we have / had among JWs were only there because of geographical chance. Simply because we lived in x congregations territory we are expected to be besties with our 'brothers' there. We'll be making our own choices from now thank you very much!

There is no such thing as unconditional love among Jehovah's Witnesses.

Jesus said love your enemy. The Governing Body says shun them. Who do JWs follow?

Yes, exactly that, Winston. Very well put.

As far as I can see, every JW lives in fear of being shopped by every other JW, and the whole lot of them know they simply mustn't use their own God-given brain and conscience, their thoughts must only run along the tracks laid down by theGB.

I met otherwise lovely brothers and sisters who could turn into George Orwell's Thought Police at a moment's notice. And they all know that they are just one step of independent thought away from being disfellowshipped and isolated from family and friends if they step out of line. That's the work of the same GB and the policy of forbidding meaningful contact with non JW's.

Isolate and control. They started that process with me. I saw it all. No way was I going to jeopardise my family.

Ah yes, the JW thought police, ever present, ever lurking, watch your back!

While among God's chosen people, you really can't trust anyone. Does that make sense? NOPE!

Read this today, and really enjoyed it. Still working through the details, but I like the reasoning:
