Why is it worded this way?
It's worded as it is TODAY, dear LQ (peace to you, dear one!)... because of the "false stylus" of the "secretaries/scribes" (
Jeremiah 8:8). Unfortunately, once John died, many who came after him didn't have a CLUE as to the things those who wrote were "on" about.

Why did Christ refer to himself in the third person?
Let me see if I can help you "see", as my dear Lord grants me to do so:
There is holy spirit... God's life force (His breath, blood, seed), His life ESSENCE... by means of which ALL life exists. It is a dynamic energy that grants life... and, when cut off, results in the lack of life. We have something like this: breath (without which we cannot live)... blood (without which we cannot live)... and semen (without which we cannot procreate life). Our life essence is limited: it is finite and can only grant more life finitely. It is flawed (imperfect) and so corruptible (it can carry sickness, disease, it ages, and it dies). HIS life force cannot die. It can be withdrawn from whoever/whatever He GRANTS (some of) it to, but they die, not His spirit/energy/life force.
When my Lord was brought forth FROM the Father... he was born of that life force; having come OUT of the Father, he was of the exact same SUBSTANCE... but not the STRENGTH. To help you understand, think of it as you and perhaps a son. You blood is "X"; however, your son, who has your blood, has a diluted version of it, by means of the blood of his mother. Our dear Lord, however, did not have diluted blood (holy spirit); his, however was not ALL "mighty"... as is the Father's.
When he came HERE... he had to give up almost ALL of the power that such blood (holy spirit) grants. Because he had to come in OUR likeness (sinFUL flesh) and had he done so in his original form and substance... no (earthly) vessel could have held him (HIS life force). He had to come in OUR form... to as to be TESTED (by our Adversary, as well as in other respects, ALL respects... as WE are). He had to do THAT... to PROVE our Adversary the liar he is. If he could prove that Adversary the liar... then he would inherit the kingdom of his Father, the MOST HOLY One of Israel, JAH of Armies. Why did he have to prove the Adversary a liar? Because the challenge of the Adversary is that ALL of mankind are nothing but puny, whiney, greedy, weak turncoats, with absolutely NO real loyalty, and that as soon as JAH takes away His "hedge" about us... we not only crumble and fall... but will curse Him to His face. ALL of us.
Our Adversary based his "opinion" of us... on the first man, Adham... who did just that: not only cursed God (well, in essence), but sold his own wife and progeny TO the spirit entity that is Death (who "feeds" on that energy from JAH in order to live!)... so that HE could be "like" God: KNOWING (i.e., firsthand and intimately) life... AND death... and yet LIVE. Know what it is like to DIE... but not STAY dead, but LIVE. Which, given that he was willing to sell out his own flesh... would mean... what? What, for the entire creation, if Adham, a selfish man of FLESH... could get back to the Tree of Life and eat... and live FOREVER? Not good. Not that kind of power, not for such a selfish person. Think he would care about/for ANYONE? Hardly... and he proved that.
Which is what the Adversary accuses ALL mankind of being like. And, unfortunately, most ARE like that. Like ADHAM... not JAH. Would sell out our own flesh for the opportunity to live... FOREVER. Know death, yet live.
So... because of the Father's LOVE for us... He sent His Son. To save us, however, that Son would have to undergo the very say "test" that Adham did... but pass it. Thing it, if he came as HIMSELF... the Adversary would have accused JAH of "stacking the deck." Of COURSE, our dear Lord would prevail... if he was in his OWN body. BUT... put him in one of OUR vessels... and, well, let's see how well he does.
Well, he did it... and he did well. PART of what he did was to not only never make himself EQUAL to JAH... but make himself a little lower than angels... but also NEVER take glory for himself. EVER... while he was in the flesh. And although he could.
SO... when he referred to himself in the third person, he was, in essence, taking the "lower" seat. He knew he had not had his glory RESTORED... yet... nor did he PRESUME it would be. Because the final decision was with the Father AND because the decision would be based on whether my Lord FULFILLED his assignment. Which he had not done... YET (at the time we're talking about here). Even here, even when he KNEW he WOULD conquer... he remained humble... unpresumptuous... and waited for the FATHER to glorify him.
And THAT, dear LQ... is the MAIN reason why he is the One deemed WORTHY to open the scrolls: because he did not glorify HIMSELF... as Adham TRIED to do (be LIKE JAH... in ALL ways)... and the Adversary is still trying to do ("Fall down and do one act of worship to me"). EVEN when he pretty much knew he was going to accomplish the task... he also knew there was a CHANCE he might not:
"If it is your will... REMOVE this cup. Yet, not MY will but your will."See, most to see that as my dear Lord wanting to NOT go through with what he did. But... he was in a vessel of FLESH, now... and that vessel was quite powerful. As ALL of ours' are. While the SPIRIT he was was totally fine with what he had to do (because he knew Death could NOT hold him if the Father didn't ALLOW it)... the FLESH he occupied did what ALL of ours' does in such instance: it fought death. It did NOT want to die. And he ALMOST gave in to it.
And had the Father conceded and let him off the hook... and he did ASK Him to, did he not?... then it would have all be for nought. But... rather than turning into a sobbing mess, pleading for his life (because he hadn't done ANYTHING wrong, after all!)... he held fast and fulfilled what he was sent here for. He did the FATHER's will... and not his OWN. Which will and fulfillment was to to save us. NOT from the Adversary... but from OURSELVES. From our own selfishness, haughtiness, and need for glorification. He took OUR shame... meaning, the shame we DESERVE... and SHOULD feel... upon and into himself. And was subjected to it... he, who never committed a sin... FOR us. We, who sin all the time. So that if we exercise faith IN him... WE don't have to BE ashamed. Because HIS blood can COVER our shame.
We, do, however, have to be humble before JAH... which he always... ALWAYS... was. Even to the point of not referring to himself as the One he HOPED to become... a GLORIFIED... and HOLY... Spirit. He was a spirit... who came to be among us as a man... and because he did not raise himself OVER JAH... or give in to his enemy and ours... or to his OWN desires... he was returned to that place, as that spirit... but with an even HIGHER and more revered name and place.
One way that WE show ourselves humble before JAH... is by LISTENING to the One He sent... TO save us. From Death. And from ourselves.
We should think: if the Son of GOD... not only emptied himself to come here and save US... but never, EVER... tried to place himself ABOVE JAH... OR take ANYTHING that wasn't (yet) GIVEN him... well...
Adham, on the other hand, did that: took something that he was warned NOT to take... in an effort to take something even GREATER... that was not HIS... yet. He didn't wait for it to BE given to him, but thought he could get it without going to the One who grants it.
That "something"... was everlasting life. It was NOT Adham's to TAKE... but JAH's... to GIVE. And my dear, dear, DEAR Lord, the HOLY One of Israel and HOLY Spirit... JAHESHUA, the Chosen One of JAH (MischaJah)... knew that. And so, rather than take it, him being the SECOND most powerful being in all existence... he earned it. Gave his life FOR it. And so it WAS given him. As the firstborn... ETERNALLY... from the dead.
I hope this helps, dear, dear LQ.
As, always, peace to you... and to your household!
YSSFS of Christ,
Shel
