AGUEST SAID
May you all have peace!
I don't often get too personally "involved" in thinking about world events, particularly conflicts in the Middle East (there are so many and have been for so long, my little brain can't fathom it all). Somehow, though, I stumbled across a VERY interesting essay written in 1947 by King Abdullah of Jordan in 1947. The time was just two years after the end of World War II... and following the Jewish Holocaust that took place in much of Europe, including Germany, Austria, Poland, Russia, and other countries during that period.
You may or may not be interested in the Middle East conflicts and particularly not the one between the Jews and Palestinian Arabs. Given that it's gone on most of the lifetime of those here, that's understandable: nothing new under the sun, as far as some of us may be concerned.
I find that information always has its purpose, though, sooner or later, even if we don't know at a particular time what that purpose is. For me, the essay was one of those "Just when you think you know, you realize that you really don't" kinds of things that we all encounter from time to time and which, hopefully, serve to enlighten us even more. While I knew the conflict was over who actually had a RIGHT to the land, and on what basis, I didn't really understand what started... and fomented... it. What I learned by reading this essay was... well, more enlightenment, to a greater or lesser degree, as to what may be the issues. Even more, who may have been responsible... and why.
Perhaps you will be enlightened, as well, if only to have a bit more accurate perception of the ARAB perspective as to the raging conflict in [their] land:

Please, feel free to let me know what YOU think, if you care to, including if you disagree with the King's position, and why. Remember, he wrote this over 65 years ago... and yet, the conflict rages on.
Again, peace to you all, truly!
