I have to admit its pretty terrifying, especially with an outbreak in Texas and the aid workers travelling across the borders... This could wipe out so many lives.

The media isn't helping with all their talk of it becoming a worldwide threat and they seem to be wanting to cause a worldwide panic.

I'm just going to strap on my gas mask and hide until it passes, if it ever does!

It is scary. That's for sure. The person in Texas who was diagnosed came into contact with who knows how many people. However, according to "experts", it spreads via contact with an infected person's body fluid. I suspect we'll see an small outbreak here in the U.S. beyond just the one person.

Like most other contagions, the best prevention seems to be plenty of hand-washing and limiting physical contact with other people.

They have contacted around 100 people that have been in contact with him and they have been quarantined in their houses so we shall have to see what happens from here.

On another note I bet the jw's are rejoicing over this Ebola outbreak, the end of the world and all that.

I refuse to be afraid of these things. For one (and most important), on the grounds that Christ told us not to be afraid or to worry about anything. And for two - the chances of getting this (or the other scares that have come around) are extremely slim, and the chances of getting it and dying are even slimmer than that. Not worth stressing/worrying/being afraid over.

I know that I have found in my life that I wasted so much energy worrying or being afraid about things that NEVER happened. What a waste of time and energy! Take precautions that are being advised - that seems wise to me - but don't be afraid, or 'anxious over anything'.

Peace and love to you and yours Watersprout,

The media sensationalise everything and its done to sell more papers and create fear amongst people. I should really stop watching the news and reading news articles.

It is a very serious thing but I don't think the Western world is taking it serious enough. We have been so removed for so long from any serious things like this. The first time we got a wake up call was 9/11

I do NOT understand why they are letting people fly out of that country and go to other countries without a mandatory quarantine. You can't just ask people if they have been in contact with someone infected, people lie to get out of there. Or you can't just go with they don't have a fever when they get on the plane. They say they aren't contagious if they don't have symptoms, but I don't believe that. Plus they say you have to be in contact with bodily fluids to catch it. Well if the person sneezes they could infect a lot of people.

If they don't quarantine we are going to have a huge problem.

It can be a concern, yes (like HIV - peace to you, all!)... but I have to agree with dear tec (pece, luv!): take whatever precautions you can/they warn to do... and get on with life.

Life is already too short, dear ones. Worrying only ticks off the days more quickly. Me? At this age, I want the whole dang thing to SLOW DOWN.

Many things out there to worry about (killing me), if I let them. While choosing to exercise prudence in my daily living, I'm also choosing NOT to let them (worry me)... in obedience to Christ.

Peace to you all!

YSSFS of Christ,

Shellamar

Oh, I wanted to add to this... that even when something I worried about DID happen... well, worrying obviously did nothing to stop that thing from happening, lol.

Reminding me of our Lord's words here:

"Who among you by worrying can add a single moment to your life?" Matt 6:27

Peace again,

I admit I panicked, but I'm much calmer now lol I avoid the news at all costs and the media feeds any fear and my fear doesn't need feeding.

But I do know that the Libyan man who flew to Texas is going to be prosecuted back in Liberia as he lied under oath to get out the country. I know he was frightened but he has endangered many lives... Such a tragic situation.

If you mean the Duncan man, dear WS ( mornin ', peace to you, and glad you were able to move past your fear, luv! )... he died. Per hubby, they euthanized the dog of the nurse. I've not heard/confirmed but... wow. WAY too much for me to handle.

I'm just gonna hafta the route I did with HIV/AIDS: listen to the medical world re cautions as to hygiene, and listen to Christ as to not judging, having no fear, and feeling pity and compassion for those who might be(come) afflicted so as to be able to stay in HIS love. S' all I can do.

Peace to you!, my dear sister!

YSSFS of Christ,

Shel

Oh that's terrible news! I know they hadn't given him any of the zmapp drug as they said they had run out... I'm a little dubious over that. His poor family and now they are at risk...
