There are people like that everywhere (not exactly like that... but still). Most people, hopefully, know that people like that are full of... mmm... well... something other than the holy spirit.

That's why I get nervous when I hear people say they met Jesus in person and we have to listen to them now because that made them special. Now if we dont listen and do what they want then we won't get to the kingdom of Heaven.

I guess the pedophile Catholic priests and JW elders must use some kind of line like that as their excuse too.

It makes me mad that men do this in the name of Jesus because it turns people off religious things and gives Jesus a bad name.

Absolutely it does. I think that is their purpose. That is why we are NOT to listen to such people. That is also one of the reasons that some state that this 'Jesus' is a product of men, and does not exist. The image men have made of Christ is not real; it is the hollywood version.

If, however, our faith is in Christ, and not in men, then we are not so easily misled... and our faith is not so easily shaken (or torn down completely) because we know not to believe the lies that men have told about Christ and God. If our relationship is with Christ, then it doesn't matter what anyone else says or does, because our faith and relationship with Christ does not have anything to do with some other mediator.


It is also a good reason to 'test' the inspired expression that they claim to utter; to know whether it originated from Christ and God (truth and love); or men.

No need to worry, dear Zoe (peace to you!) - Anyone who is told such "stuff" should simply start by asking themselves, "Now would God REALLY want that? Would Christ? WHY would God/Christ want that?" and then ask whoever it is to SHOW them.

I mean... c'mon: we're supposed to be sheep, yes. And sheep DO need to be led, yes... because their are predators. We don't have to be STUPID sheep, though. And falling for THAT (or anything similar... unless you're a child)... is sorta... well, you know where I'm going with this.

Really? REALLY??

Vulnerable, perhaps. Gullible, maybe. Stupid?

Zoe I do agree. But it the same bad name that people like this give to Jesus as the WTBS gives to Jehovah.

And what helped me understand this is a few months ago I was attending my nieces funeral who had died of cancer at 36 leaving a husband and 4 small children. She was a baptized JW just hadn't had anything to do with the organization in years.
Our entire family are JWs. Not one of them went accept her father which has been inactive for many years. No grandparents, mother, brothers, aunts, cousins etc. They are all either JWs or associated in some way. They did not go because she did not allow them to give her a JW funeral and take control of her. They even said they'd pay for it all if her husband let them take control of the services. He said NO. " I will respect my wifes request not to have a JW funeral." She wanted a non-denominational service in a community building in order to accommodate the JW family and they NEVER CAME.

Needless to say my husband and I went only to find this out. We are the so-called apostates. lol Her husband cried to us saying he could not believe noone came but US and they (the jw fam)have nothing to do with US> he said, "Who was the Christians in this situation?"

Now of course I said, "Praise Jah!" that we could be there.

But as we were driving home I lost my strength and cried and cried.
I prayed "Father, I'm sooo sorry for what they have done and the lack of Love they have showed. Forgive them Father. I'm sorry what they do in your name and how bad they make you look to unbelievers. No wonder people stop believing in you."

Then is when I heard the voice tell me, "It is NOT ME they are making look bad. It is the God they worship...Jehovah! "

You do not worship the same God as they do. That is why I have not given them my name because of the what they would do to it. The name they have chosen is what they disgrace.

So, it helped me to realize this and it is the reason why so many of us here understand why when individuals come in to us and teach or share something that is not what we know of Jah and His son Jaheshua to BE or DO or SAY...We know it is a foreign message, a strange voice, and why we choose not to follow its direction.
Our Father is Jahveh and His son is Jaheshua. These are who we belong to.

This is the blasphemy of the HS that Christ warned about, to take advantage of the faith and love of another and to exploit it and go against God love for His Children.
I pity those people for their punishment is far greater than anything Man could ever come up with.

These things are the dangers of organized religion, when the hierarchy becomes more than the region, more than the faith.

JustMom, you are right, Gods name is being disgraced everyday too with Jehovah's Witnessess. They say they have love but the opposite is true. Thankfully they have his name wrong.
That is just so sad about your niece dying never mind her family not attending.

I had to put together my Mom's funeral when she died, she was a devout JW. I refused to do it at the Kingdom Hall (she had nothing about that in her will), had it at the funeral home and had a JW give the service without the stupid outline they have. Hardly any of her so called JW friends showed up because they didn't think it was appropriate unless it was at a Kingdom Hall.

Yet, they're not superstitious. THAT was my first conundrum with them; their claims of not being superstitious. I came from a background of being VERY superstitious, but in a good way (some "voodoo" in my family background). Anyway, my daughter wanted a Cabbage Patch doll when she a child and so I told a couple/few "sisters" that I was going to get her one. And OMG... you'd thought I'd said she wasn't gonna have her own baby!! "Oh, it's a blasphemy! It's comes with a BIRTH certification! They lie and teach babies are born in cabbage patches! They supposed to help you tell your kids where babies come from - you can't tell them THAT yet!"

And so on and so on...

And then the whole shabang about Smurf's and "Master's of the Universe (my kids watched the cartoons)...

I would ask, "Isn't that superstition???"

Of course, the answer was always, "Oh, no, no, it's not superstition. Superstition is... but THIS is..." whatever.

I shoulda seen it back then. But, well, I have to give them thanks and credit for my kids. It was during the time of HUGE gang conflicts (Crips, Bloods, wearing "colors", etc.) and meetings and FS made it easy for me to keep mine too busy for all of that.

Thank you for your kind words. I'm sorry about your mom and the way things happened.

But now I look at it like this... every time they act and say the things they do to others that are not OF them....They are showing their TRUE colors...or their "TRUE GARMENTS" and they are definitely NOT LOVE!

That is helping outsiders dodge "that bullet"...
