Formerly on the fringe of Greek politics, openly xenophobic and anti-Semitic Golden Dawn has seen its popularity soar as it taps into widespread anger over immigration and austerity reforms in debt-wracked Greece.
S'only a matter of time before something like that could happen here, dear ANOMOS (peace to you, dear one!). I am always amazed at people's... so-called "christian's" opposition to immigration, even that they consider "illegal." Man doesn't OWN this planet; he has only been entrusted with its care. And so no MAN really has any right to even SET boundaries. Many, however, although considering themselves to be/calling themselves "christians" take on this issue, yet fail to see how they raising country even over GOD. "Patriotism" is a god in and of itself, yet many fail to see that.
As a member of the Body of Christ, however, we have no earthly boundaries. The only ones we DID have were those set for Israel by the MOST HOLY One of Israel, JAH Himself. Even those, however, are "removed" in Christ. Because if we see our brother... or even a stranger... in need... and yet, shut the door of our tender compassion on him, HOW can we say we love Christ? And if Christ crossed our borders... would we take issue with him? Would we want him thrown in jail because he didn't first appeal to Caesar? What if there was hunger, famine, war on his side? Or maybe not even that, but a better opportunity to feed his family on OUR side? What would WE do?
The answer lies in our knowing what our dear Lord would do. And while he might tell that brother to honor Caesar and come over legally... HE wouldn't take up arms against him... or judge him... or have a bad view of him for seeking to save his life/better care for his family. He certainly wouldn't consider crossing a border as grounds to be kept out of the kingdom of the heavens - who then, is man to consider crossing a border to be grounds for keeping another out of a MUCH LESSER "kingdom"... or country?
It absolutely makes NO sense to me when people who claim to love God... and even more when they claim to love Christ... to have ANY issue whatsoever as to "immigration," either legal OR illegal. As if anything belongs to THEM, anyway. It is nothing more than fear and anxiety... often born of GREED... of perhaps having to have a smaller piece of the "pie." What most don't realize is that the people "above" THEM... those who are even richer... which THEY would "go back where they came from," too... so that THEIR slice is even BIGGER. And so it's hypocrisy all the way down the line.
Sorry, but the topic of immigration and racism... and racism due to immigration... chaps my HIDE. It is ABSOLUTELY racism when folks take an issue to a certain "group" of folks coming to [their] country... especially HERE in the U.S./North America... because EVERYONE here came from somewhere ELSE. At least their ancestors did. And MOST of those ancestors came illegally... if not immorally and wickedly (massacreing natives to take the land!)... if not brought OTHERS here illegally, immorally, and wickedly. Many were criminals, banished from the "good" land to what was THOUGHT was a large barren wasteland.
I would bet, were I a betting woman, every American looking back in their history would find someone in their ancestry who had connections to this continent who was either a slave, a trader of slaves, a benefactor of the slave trade, a criminal, a "heretic/apostate," witch, prostitute, stowaway, a solider in an army that stole land from its indigenous peoples, a family member/lover of such soldier, a mafioso type... or SOMETHING unsavory... either there... or here.
It's like some folks in Australia: the dang continent was a PENAL colony, fercrissake. After a bit, however, the criminals became the "desirable" people... with the natives being the "trash."
Shakes head: earthling man... go... figure.
No, ya'll don't WANT to get ME started on immigration. My ancestors "immigrated" here, too. Under very IMMORAL, if not illegal circumstances. Let's, as a nation, talk about THAT, yes? Oh, no... not that... no, that's "in the past." Yeah, well, lot's of stuff in the past... and after a time, so will today's immigrants be a thing of the past. The "superior race" types should really just get over it, already - each race has its strengths... and each has its weaknesses. From a worldy POV, they all benefit one another.
