LOLOLOL! I guess I was the blind one here, dear At (peace, dear lady!). My eyes did not see the word "deaf!". My "ears" were listening, though, as to the blind man! LOLOL! Perhaps the reason was the same, that the Pharisees, et al., would have never challenged a miracle witnessed by a crowd (I mean, how could they)... and they HAD to judge themselves with their own mouths (versus our dear Lord doing so with his)?

Thank you for pointing out my error! Now I have something else to listen as to and I'm looking forward to the explanation! LOLOL!!

Peace!

Your servant and a slave of Christ,

Shellamar

Lol, you two had me going to look those two accounts up. Because I remembered the account of the blind man as you wrote it Shelby, and how he was accused of being steeped in sin at birth, and how people kept asking and asking and demanding to know how he was healed... and then insulting and hating and throwing him out of the synagogue just because he answered them truthfully. But they are the ones that kept asking and they kept asking (as if somehow the truth was going to change.... or as if somehow they could make HIM lie instead)... until finally he said, "I have told you, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to be his disciples also?"

Now THAT sounds familiar, and that made me laugh! Of course then they hurled their insults and threw him out. But I actually quite loved re-reading that account, so thank you both for your recent exchange, so that I would go and look it up!!

As to the other account, in Mark, there is an account of both a deaf man (in chapter 7) and a blind man (in chapter 8 ). These two stories are not elaborated upon beyond people bringing each of the men to Christ to be healed, and then Christ healing them. In John, chapter 9 , is the story of the blind man that I believe you were hearing about, Shelby.

So the reason for pulling the deaf man aside also (or anyone) may have been the same, but is just not elaborated upon in Mark.

Peace to you!

Your servant, and sister, and fellow slave of Christ,
tammy

Hey At, you made me giggle, how I wish my body would reduce in size lol. The old dieting doesn't seem to be that successful!

Those exchanges leave so flat and drained, just horrible.

Yes, a timely account for you, tec; maybe that's why Shelby had the blind man on her brain.

I noticed all three stories had something in common - spit; which is kinda gross, so I'm anxious to find out what Shelby (or anyone else) hears about it.

Morning Paul!

I love the examples that you gave. I don't think that is the type of 'kindly' Shelby was referring in her request for examples... but rather the 'kindly' that means pandering or compromising the truth, or even lying, in order to make someone else feel better or to spare their feelings.

Quote:
By "kindly", I mean in a way that was not most truthful, perhaps even direct/forthright.

Quote:
Even so, I am trying to find instances where he engaged in the so-called "diplomacy" of THIS day (where folks don't say what they mean or mean what they say, but say what others want them to say... or at least, how others want it to be said, etc.).

The examples that you gave also show plain speaking; speaking truth without pandering/compromising:

Quote:
The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;

Rather than justify and pander to how that would be okay, he speaks the truth on the matter. And contrary to what some will see, this is not a condemnation... this is just truth, so that the one hearing the truth (and wanting to hear and know the Truth) can check themselves, examine their hearts, ASK Christ to help them to know Him, to listen, to follow Him. To forgive them where they are/have been sinning.

If someone tells them instead that it is okay, God understands, you don't have to worry about it... then how will they ask for help, or examine themselves, so as to come into the Truth and listen to Him? In this... and in ALL things?

So the plain speaking, the direct speaking, the truth... DOES... come from love. Not hate; not condemnation; not superiority or arrogance. But from love. Love of Christ (and so love of Truth), and love for others (friend and foe).

I know that you know this already, my brother, peace and love to you and your loved ones... but some reading/lurking might not.

And yes, Christ knew what to say to draw out what was already IN people. Be that light... or darkness.

Peace and love to you and yours,
tammy

I don't think that anyone should lie to get their point across, that the truth needs to be sugar coated to make it easy to swallow.
That said, there are ways of saying things that can bring a person TO Christ rather than push them away, even if that person doesn't stay around.
There are some people that will never believe and there are others that will always believe BUT the majority are those that fall somewhere in-between.
It's not that they don't want to, it is that the message has never addressed THEIR issues and problems.
Sometimes the issues are as simple as a misunderstanding of God and who/what He is BUT many times it is far deeper and more profound then that.
Those people need to be spoken to with understanding and compassion, ie: kindness BUT never mislead.
As Jesus said:
By wise as serpents.

We should be able to understand how to talk to a person so as to reach them and not push them away.

May you all have peace! I am working for the next couple/few weeks, don't have computer access (so I'm typing with my iphone - ARGHH!)... and am really tired when I get home (after dark - I also leave before dark - LOLOL!) so please excuse my delayed commenting.

Dear At, peace to you, dear one, and per my Lord, just as DNA is in OUR saliva, as well as our blood, semen, etc., his/the Father's life is in their's. So the healing done with "spit" contained JAH's spirit which is the means by which those who received it were healed. WHATEVER JAH's spirit... or life... touches... or is touched by IT... comes to life! The more of that spirit... the MORE life. Unless... there is TOO much, in which case PHYSICAL bodies cannot handle it.

And so, like Joseph (with Pharoah's grain, which sustained the lives of those who received it), Christ has been given authority not only to dispense the Father's life-giving spirit, but to control the amount/portion... AND "regulate" it's power!

When he explained all of that I thought, "Well, doo-dah!" LOLOL!

Dear P... peace to you, luv, and I'm with dear tec (peace, chile!) - I'm not sure you quite understand. While those you quoted did EXPOUND on love, kindness, etc., the context in which they DID so does not indicate they were being "kind" (as you may view that term) in the PROCESS. That is certainly disputable as to Paul, in light of many OTHER things he stated in that same letter (and apparently the one before it was considered to be SO "unkind" as to be excluded from the Bible canon altogether!).

And surely we ALL know of people who can speak "winningly." Some call those "charismatics." Others (including me, might call them "Jehovahs Witnesses" - LOLOL!).

Even so, while it would be nice if we were all set in the Body the same way... but that's not really the case. Take me, for instance: I think I've tried to share on many occasions that MY "work" is not to "make disciples." Hence, I'm not baptizing anyone... in water OR spirit. MY work is to do what the rocks WOULD do... and I don't think "they" would do it in the manner or for the purpose you seem to be suggesting. There are PLENTY of folks out there who are trying to "win" others over... and many who ARE winning others over... by means of "how" they speak to folks... and particularly if the message is personal to the everyday life of the persons.

One might have to ask, though, winning them over to WHAT? Or, even more important, to WHOM? Most folks have a form of worship and "godly devotion" that in TRUTH have sbsolutely NOTHING to do with God and/or Christ, in REALITY... but is strongly based on what they THINK they know... due to their religious "foundation." EVEN some who think they've REJECTED religion... but are only replacing one with another of some sort (perhaps one that mirrors one before it so that another "image" is brought to life).

When one completely and totally tears it ALL down... back to Christ, the Cornerstone... one will not only find One whose appearance is plain... but whose speech is, as well. Absolutely no "adulteration." Our world, however, at least the modern and so-called "civilized" part of it wants adulterization. In what we see AND in what we hear. In that light, your comments kind of prove my pooint: we don't want to receive truth; we want what we want... and how we want it. And if it isn't "packaged" up "all pretty"... it's repulsive and we reject it. Whether in sight, sound, smell, taste, touch. If it is not "pleasing" to our eye, ear, nose, palate, skin... we call it "bad." On the other hand, if it appeals to such senses we are not only drawn to it... but will follow/take/eat/buy it. EVEN if our doing so might lead to our EVERLASTING destruction.

What can we say? Earthling man: skin in behalf of skin... And mankind is certainly a slave to his flesh... and IT's desires, no?

But that is why "Jesus" looks... and "sounds" like "HE" does, dear one: "he" is a construct (of man) and not the REALITY of the the HOLY One of Israel and Holy Spirit, JAHESHUA, the Chosen One of JAH (MischaJah)... and the TRUE Son of God.

That One said his YOKE was kindly... and it is. And while he is kind, as well, his words were not always RECEIVED as such. Yet, he didn't change them. When he spoke he told people what they NEEDED to hear: truth. Which was not necessarily what they WANTED to hear. And he spoke plainly and directly... which was not always HOW they wanted to hear it. And we can say the same of the apostles. Indeed, if one reads their writings THROUGH, one will see as dear tec shared - directness more often than not, and certainly more often than pandering (I know, I know - you don't consider it that. I promise you, though, many do... and many are doing it.

When one sees Christ in "Wisdom," however, one understands his speech... and not only doesn't take offense, but tries, to the best of their ability, to imitate it... rather than "please" men. I hope you can receive that, dear brother.

Dearest tec... and you others who understand what I meant ... peace to you, as well, and thank you, truly.

I hope (some of) what I shared was helpful. As always, peace to you ALL!

YSSFS of Christ,

Shellamar

Hello dear Ataloa and Shelby,

I apologize for my delay in posting this answer as well and the lack of faith in hearing all of it " just so."

I too heard the exact same thing after reading the account and asking myself. I asked my Lord why couldn't you just touch him like you did to many others and he be healed?
He could have but this was a demonstration to him and others that what " comes out from him" IS LIFE!
That is why he is that LIGHT and TRUTH of the world!

He showed me the example in the beginning with Jah in creating Adam. He formed Adam from the dust of the ground and he could have just " touched him" and he would have come alive.
But instead he " BLEW life/ spirit into Him and THEN Adam became a living one".

So it was Jahs breath and Christs spit that gives life and heals.
Praise Jah and his son for sharing these truths with us and again I apologize for not sharing sooner.

Love and peace to you ALL,
Justmom ( Kim)

There's actually more, dear 'Mom (peace, luv!)... and it's WONDERFUL! I was relating to dear hubby what our dear Lord had shared with me on this... and he gave me MORE! As I was sharing, he asked me:

"Was not the man born blind, child?"

To which I responded, "Yes, Lord "

He then asked me:

"But you assume him born with eyes. Why?"

And before I could respond, he took me in spirit... and SHOWED me the man... and the man DID NOT HAVE EYES! He was born... WITHOUT THEM!!

And THEN i saw Lord take some soil from the ground into his hand... dribble saliva from his mouth (he did NOT spit, as we might envision that!)... mix the two to make a kind of, well, MUD, girl, then PUT IT... NOT on the man's face... but IN his face! In the openings where his eyes WOULD have been!

OMGosh - This was not man even born WITH eyes but could not see!! He never had eyes... UNTIL OUR DEAR LORD GAVE HIM SOME!!

Oh, 'Mom!! My dear sister, he gave the man PHYSICAL eyes!! In the SAME way that Adham was formed from "dust"... and given a PHYSICAL body... this man was given eyes... FORMED from the dust! The little bit of dirt... AND LITTLE BIT OF HOLY SPIRIT (in our Lord's saliva!)... resulted in eyes!!

He did one eye... and the man could see SOME (where he could not at ALL before)! Then he did the other... and the man could see fully!

Wait... is science missing something??? I mean, yes, they are, but... maybe body parts are SIMPLER to make actually!! Just a little earth... and "['LIVING'] water"??

OMGoodness... what thing to see! Y'all PLEASE forgive me - it was incredible! I'm STILL "trembling"! LOLOLOLOL!

OMG, I DID think he was a man with eyes that just didnt work! It NEVER crossed my mind that the man never had eyes to start! But if he HAD... then our dear would have only needed to say, "Open your eyes and see"! He wouldn't have even NEEDED to touch him! DOH!!

But the man had to HAVE eyes FIRST even for THAT to be so!

Wow. And I do mean... wow. It was an AMAZING thing to see! Truly amazing... and ABSOLUTELY "eye-opening"!! Pun NOT intended (but, then again... LOLOL!).

And (some folks want me to/think I should/need to "change" some things?! Not on your life, dear ones. And certainly not at risk to MINE, my household's... or these WONDERFUL gifts!

PRAISE JAH... ALL you people!! Let every living thing... every living BREATHING thing... whether it has eyes or NOT... PRAISE JAH!!

Wow. Just... I don't even know if "wow" is enough.

Peace to you ALL!

A slave of Christ,

Shellamar, who now knows EVEN MORE what its means that we will be GIVEN ears to hear and eyes to see SPIRITUALLY: in the SAME way some were given such PHYSICALLY!! Shaking head in wonder...

Wow! Well I never considered for one moment that the man didn't HAVE eyes, either!

This point links to what I've been considering re the 'Aglow' thread. I will go and post over there.

Soon after I posted that word 'gross', I felt bad about it; I told the Lord he could spit on me any time he wanted to. Then I got a picture of a switch on my bare butt. Well!

That is quite something about making eyes for the man - I never thought of that either. I don't want to take away from the wonder of that, but I am confused. It seems like the two accounts of the blind men are being combined here; they are two different individuals, right?

This is not written in the account in John 9 (where the man was BORN blind); but it is in Mark 8, where he laid his hands upon that man twice.

Maybe it was true for both accounts, just not written in John 9?

Good morning everyone AND.....

I must add my "WOW" and total excitement in spirit.

I too never thought not having eyes meant literally he could not see because he did not HAVE eyes!

If he was blind our Lord could have just touched him, healed him as he did many others that I too had been asking about. But this is the detail I had not understood until now.

He literally did not even have eyes and so therefore was blind.

This is why I was given to see LOL... Adam being FORMED from the dust FIRST then Holy Spirit....Breath giving him life.

Which is literally why Jah told Adam, " From DUST you are ( formed) and DUST you will return".

Thank you for sharing this and Praise Jah and our Lord Jaheshua for sharing once again this wonderful truth!

Love and peace to you all, your sister and fellow servant of Christ, Justmom.

Never even occurred to me either that he was born without eyes, either. Makes me think about how much we assume we see based on what we've been told that we see. I have something to share on another matter that kind of relates to that, for another post. But I am so glad that you saw this Shelby, and had the courage to share it just as you were given. Praise be to Jah, and to His Son, our Lord, Jaheshua!

And of course, if God could make a man from dust of the earth and breathe life into that man, then could our Lord not make eyes from the mud (dust of the earth) and the life (holy spirit) in Him (his saliva) to bring those eyes to 'life'? (make them work) I am reminded now also of an account written in the gospel of Thomas (I think, I watched a show about the other gospels once) of Christ (as a child) forming a bird from the clay on the side of a river bank and bringing that bird to life.

This also makes me think of those who say that they want to see a limb grown back on an amputee... and THEN they (might) believe ; )

Peace to you all, and thank you Ataloa for asking the question!

Your servant and sister and fellow slave of Christ,
tammy

I replied to this earlier, but it seems my post got lost. <frown>

My thought was, first, thanks for sharing. I've never consider the man to not have eyes either. I've always wondered why the people didn't seem to quite recognize the man after he was healed. After rereading the account, it hit me:

Therefore the neighbors and those who formerly used to see he was a beggar began to say: “This is the man that used to sit and beg, is it not?” Some would say: “This is he.” Others would say: “Not at all, but he is like him.” The man would say: “I am [he].” Consequently they began to say to him: “How, then, were your eyes opened?

I always thought this meant: "How, then were you able to see?" But that's not what it says. I wonder, then, did this man have eyelids that were sealed shut? Is that how he appeared?
