I have gone back and forth as a vegetarian. Both for health/ hormone reasons and just plain feeling awful!!! I wish I could be satisfied completely without it. But it is another thing and boy oh boy there is a LOT....that I need to be forgiven for. Although I do realize it is permitted of course, I still do realize what it is in truth.

And yes, how is Char doing with the vegetarian diet? Reminded me of when she said she became one after watching " Life of Pi." Understanding what it is in eating other flesh with spirit in it is not new to many cultures. Remember in the movie how he felt and apologized for it before he began eating.
I also remember something to the same effect in the movie, " Avatar."

I failed, justmom. I lasted two whole months but my downfall was...you guessed it....bacon! And a certain roast chicken meal that my daughter was preparing, and thinking of a veggie alternative for me. "No!" I said, "that's it, my veggie days are no more! Roast chicken for me!"

There were bacon curls on the side, and luscious sausages accompanying. Mmmmmmm!

I have tried to vegetarian too, not vegan, just vegetarian but its hard to do as it means changing my cooking style. Plus my man loves meat with each meal so I would have to cook 2 separate meals.

I only eat chicken and ham and bacon and sometimes hamburger. If I had to live off the land or be a farmer and kill and dress my own animals I would be entirely vegetarian. NO way could I eat animals I saw alive and looked into their faces and eyes. I don't have a problem so much with birds but mammals I do. When I was in Europe and or any place where they sell their meat with the feet and heads still on them to show how fresh they are I ended up not eating meat at all. I ate a lot of green beans/haricot verts while I was in France as when I was there it seemed that chicken was paupers food and I couldn't get it in the smaller towns at restaurants. I was so happy when we got to Paris and they had poulet on the menu.

Spain had a lot of seafood and I don't like most seafood but they served some scampi or something and it smelled good so I ordered that. Well they served it with the eyes still on it, I couldn't eat it. UGH I am such a munge cake (sp?)

Shelby, a little off topic here, but you said earlier in this thread:

I have tried to vegetarian

Never tried it, dear ones (peace to you, all!) and, chances are unless and until my digestive system (or teeth and gums) just absolutely cannot handle it any longer, I will be a carnivore until my last breath (and there IS "potted meat," "deviled ham," "deviled liverwurst," "puddin'" (which is a kind of liverwurst but in a sausage tube that you squeeze out onto, say, bread for a sandwich... so along with some VERY soft white bread... and please, no one lecture me on white bread because by that time what kind of bread I eat prolly won't matter... I will prolly be eating meat... or some form it until I die.

Now, I don't LIKE that fact (I LOVE beasties, all of them!! Well, okay, maybe not rodents or cephalopods... nor your household insects - flies, ants, spiders...), but I know ME... and so, yes, it is a fact, sad to say.

Praise JAH, though... there is a savior! And thank JAH... that One isn't a kind of "lamb" I can eat! Well, not literally! TECHNICALLY, though ("he that feeds on my flesh..."), ohhh yeah - LOLOLOL!

Sorry, chikkens (ooh, CHICKEN! Gonna eat that 'til I die, too!)... but its dah troof!!

Peace!

A very carnivorous slave of Christ,

Shellama, who can't really eat beef, unless it REALLY tender (can you say, "filet mignon"?)... but can put some lamb DOWN... and so had some VERY tasty lamb chops, yes'tiddy, yes she did...

Well, despite the craze with whole wheat bread, or grained bread, etc... there are people who cannot eat that because digestive problems, and these foods have too much fiber. My husband can only eat white bread... and since that is what I like the best, I am not complaining ; )

Peace,
tammy

I admit, I like the more substantial stuff (Milton's - ohhh yeahhh!), dear tec (peace, luv!)... but nothin' like soft white bread for bologna sammiches! Now, I haven't HAD bologna in close to 15-20 YEARS... but if I ever did again... soft white, you betcha! Sunbeam... Wonder... I mean that REALLY soft stuff!

Piece (or should I say "slice"?) - LOLOLOL!

Shellama, who only eats bulk bologna, thick-sliced right from the loaf... and only in the back country (of wherever) where it's the good, homemade (and so organic) stuff... and kinda "kosher" (no questionable "fillers", etc.)... on her own...

Oh yes, that bologne sliced off the loaf is the best. We have it here, but it is a Newfie staple, lol. So that my aunt and uncle have a picture of a kiwifruit (my aunt is from New Zealand) and a slab of bologne (my Uncle from NFLD), paired together, to represent them ; )

I just buy the sliced bologne mind you, because its cheaper (though my mom usually has the good stuff, and she used to fry it for us in the morning with breakfast... yum), but I do get bologne sandwiches whenever I want them... because I have the boys. g:)

Peace!
tammy

Like hot dogs... but in a sandwich meat. (not exactly the same meat, but similar) You can get all beef as well, and no fillers as well. It usually comes sliced. We have maple leaf, and schneiders, and I think the States has oscar meyer?

Peace,
tammy

Oh, we have many more brands than Oscar Meyer, dear tec (peace!). Bologna is pronounced "baloney", dear Loz (peace to you, as well!). As in "baloney sandwich." Does that help? I realize maybe not since you're across the Pond. Consider it a huge "banger" sliced, say, 1/8th thick and made into sandwiches. Something like that...

Peace!

Shellama, on her own...

Bangers taste much better than balogna/baloney ;P

It really is very similar to a flattened hotdog as Tec said ;)

Ah right ok...I suppose we'd call that 'continental sausage' but I like the 'baloney' term, lol. For the record we've all gone miles off topic haven't we......
