As I told the dear Sher'f (peace, luv!)... where they live is gorgeous and if it only stayed that way year 'round... I might consider asking hubby to transplant. BUT... the Shellama doesn't do cold, at ALL ('cause she was raised in sunny/balmy San Diego, so she's "allergic" to cold) and so snow gives her hives if she has to be in/around it for more than, say, 4-6 hours. Note, that's not 4-6 hours a day; that's 4-6 hours TOTAL!

Reason why I moved back from NYC (which I LOVE) to Cali: cold and snow. Brrrrrrrrrrr... and UH-UH! I need to be able to wear my bikini year 'round and OUTSIDE! Okay, that's an exageration. But I DO need to be able to go barefoot or at least wear my sandals/flipflops year 'round! LOLOLOL!

Peace... and again, LOVELY pics, dear Sher'f!

Shellama, the bohemian hippie love chile'... on her own...

Yeah, that's what I figured about your weather, dear Sher'f (peace, luv!). So your friend doesn't WANT the fox to come in?? What's up with that?

Peace!

I would LOVE to live somewhere that doesn't have winter. Every year when the nights draw in I believe it's a conspiracy by our government lol. I detest the cold.

There is a huge difference between a tamed wild animal and a domesticated animal..
You don`t want a wild animal to be dependent on you,it affects their ability to survive in the wild..
And..
Wild animals can be unpredictable..It`s best to keep them outdoors..

In the UK there have been incidents of urban foxes going into homes and attacking babies. Not good. I'm not sure I'd ever be happy with domesticating them. Feral means feral I think.

Feral means feral I think.

Babies = Food to some wild animals..

The best you can do is tame a wild animal,Co-habitate with them..
It will always be wild..
I have a bear here..We manage to stay out each others way..

The deer I can get closer to,but I still have to be careful..
They can and will attack,if they have babies around..
They will stomp a mud hole in you..

Theres no way to make friends with a mountain cat..
They are extremely dangerous..

We had badgers, a network of ancient badger setts amongst our trees in the wooded area at the bottom of the garden. From time to time, they would come up onto the lawn near the house.

I know some people feed "their" badgers, but we never did. It's not a good idea to feed wild mammals. It's not like putting food out on a bird table in the winter. If animals get fed by humans they can become dependent on them. People try to turn them into something like pets, but they're not pets, and it's fraught with hazard.

Apart from anything else, scraps of food left on the ground are bound to attract rats!

We had foxes too...it was a large wooded area. Foxes are foxes. They could and did break into the most protected and well-built hen house.

Mr Fox is not a nice guy! Badgers will kill one hen and eat it. Foxes go into a killing frenzy just because they can. They kill far more than they can eat or take home to wife and cubs!

Ahhhhh... in other words, a snake is still a snake, eh? I get it, dear ones - LOLOL! Thanks for the reminder!

Peace to you all!

Shellama... on her own... and wonderin' if the following is what folks means when they call her "tender-hearted" - LOLOLOL!

On her way to work one morning
Down the path alongside the lake
A tender hearted woman saw a poor half frozen snake
His pretty colored skin had been all frosted with the dew
"Oh well," she cried, "I'll take you in and I'll take care of you"
"Take me in oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in oh tender woman," sssssighed the snake

She wrapped him up all cozy in a curvature of silk
And then laid him by the fireside with some honey and some milk
She hurried home from work that night and as soon as she arrived
She found that pretty snake she had taken in had been revived
"Take me in, oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in oh tender woman," ssssssighed the snake

Now she clutched him to her bosom, "You're so beautiful," she cried
"And if I hadn't have brought you in by now you might have died"
Now she stroked his pretty skin and then she kissed him and held him tight
But instead of saying thanks, that snake gave her a vicious bite
"Take me in, oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in oh tender woman," ssssssighed the snake

"I saved you," cried that woman
"And you've bit me even while
You knew your bite was poisonous and now I'm going to die"
"Awww, shut up, silly woman," said that reptile with a grin

"You knew very well I was a snake before you took me in!
"Take me in, oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in oh tender woman," ssssssighed the snake"

That girl has never lived in the wilderness..LOL!!..
As cuddly as wild animals may look, they will survive at any cost..
Unlike house pets..
Animals in the wild "do not" die from natural causes..
Here it is literally,a Survival of the Fittest..
