GRAMMAVELTA SAID
Mostly my prayers (speaking to God, I equate them as the same thing) are giving thanks for what He has given us. There are few things that He has not provided. I pray for direction each day,"I want to do Your will." Sometimes I pray for other people who are sick. I think I have forgiven everyone, but occasionally I ask, in case I have forgotten someone. I know that He knows my needs and I know He will provide them. But Yeshua said to ask anyway:
Matthew 6:9-14: “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one. ’
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."
I believe we can pray to Jesus, as others have said. Jesus himself said
at John 5: 22-24: "Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son,
that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.
“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.
Criminy said: "I have never heard this, but I have probably always used the name Jehovah in my prayers without giving it much thought. When I pray to Jehovah there is no reason not to use his name. He made it known to us for a reason,. I think we've been invited to use it."
After we left the WT, I began to say "Our Father" instead of Jehovah. My reasoning. I always called my fleshly father, Dad or Daddy. I was taught it was not respectful to use his name, John, although I knew his name and could tell others, I never addressed him as "John" when speaking to him.
Ding said: "Even the NWT says that Jesus himself addressed God as "Father" in Matthew 11:25, Luke 10:21, John 11:41. and John 17:1. "Yes," someone says, "but Jesus was God's Son; we are not."
We are the sons of God if we follow Christ. We have been adopted and are joint-heirs with Yeshua:
Romans 8: 14-17:
" For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now
if we are children, then we are heirs —heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory"
Love and hugs,
