Greetings, dear Kassad and GLT... and peace to you both!
while the Bible talks about God,
it does so to teach us about ourselves: where we came from, where we are now, and where we should be headed.
It was supposed to that... for ISRAEL... and those that went with/joined her, yes, dear GLT... but BEFORE Christ, dear one. It contained the Law, as well as Israel's history, chronologies, records, etc. It was tampered with, however, and used to MISLEAD Israel (and those who when with/joined to her). Due to the false pen of the copyists/scribes, Israel had been led ASTRAY by the "Bible." Which is they Christ said:
1.
"WOE to you... scribes... hypocrites!" - These had been bribed by many, including the priests, Pharisees, Sadducees, and others... to write what they wanted Israel to "know," rather than what the original writings had stated. Which is why my Lord ALSO said:
2.
"I came... to bear witness to the TRUTH."And so on MANY occasions he said to those who listened:
3.
"You HEARD it was said... but I say to you..." and then he would tell them something DIFFERENT from whatever it was they had heard. He said "heard," because Israel no longer really read the Law or records. Rather than adhering to what was stated at
Psalm 1:1, 2, they did what most have done today: turned that task over... to OTHERS... who deign to read and so INTERPRET them FOR them. So, they "heard" just as many today "hear": from others. What OTHERS "say"... "the Bible says." Which is why so many have NO clue as to what it says on a number of things.
Once Christ came, however, HE was now the "Word" Israel... and those who went with/join them were to listen to. Which is why not only did the MOST Holy One of Israel, JAH of Armies say, when my Lord came up from the Jordan:
1. "This is my Son, the Beloved; LISTEN TO HIM"...
but my Lord, the HOLY One of Israel, JAHESHUA, the Chosen One of JAH (MischaJah) confirmed that HE was that Son:
"He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. And he was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, he found the place where it was written:
“The Spirit of JaHVeH is upon Me,
Because He has anointed ME
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent ME to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of JaHVeH.”
"Then he closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And he said to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” Luke 4:16-21; Isaiah 61:1-3From that day on... they, Israel... and all who went with/joined to them... were to look at HIM, listen to HIM, follow HIM... and NOT the Law/Scriptures/Bible. Because he was the END of all of that, as Paul wrote in his letter to the Corinthians.
Quote:
Must be one of the reason why John, in writing his letters, chose to keep it as short as possible, and prefers verbal communication. 1 John 1:12, 3 John 1:13
For John, that appears to be true, dear Kassad. But some of of more words than others, verbally; some are better at writing. And we can all agree that what's in writing is often subject to misinterpretation, even today. And ever here. But it wasn't always possible to share verbally, as John seemed to prefer, as Israel had been "scattered", first throughout Judea and Samaria, then (and today) throughout the world. And so sometimes more had to be reached but in a short period of time... and by very... mmmmmmm... "covert" means. John was directing his words to specific individuals, as Paul also often did, but Paul also addressed entire groups (as Peter, Luke, James, Jude, and others did).
Also keep in mind that each one is given different "gifts" of the spirit, as well as different PORTIONS (talents/minas). Paul had done a lot of damage; he was responsible for a LOT of deaths/imprisonments. He had to account for each one. And he did, eventually, which is why he could finally say that he WAS free "of the bloodguilt" of all men. He had given HIS life in exchange for those he had helped murder/imprison.
My Lord did more, though: he gave HIS life... on behalf of the entire world, not just a few. So that ANY who wished to come to him and take advantage of HIS sacrifice... so as to have their sins covered... could do so. Not just a few hundred or so who were killed by opposition, but ALL of mankind... from Adham until this day.
I hope this helps, dear ones, and again, peace to you!
YOUR servant and a slave of Christ,
Shellama
