Does anyone have any ideas what this means? The sound is supposed to be above the range of humans.

I've used one a number of times over the years and I've never heard a sound before; but yesterday I did. I still have a headache from it.

It is just freaky and if someone else has heard one, please let me know; it will make me feel better.

Two things come to MY mind, dear Ataloa (WELCOME, if you're new... and peace to you!):

1. The whistle is defective (or substandard); or

2. There are exceptions to almost every rule... and you might be an exception. We all are, in some way or another.

There are other possibilities:

You could be a dog.

You could have a hearing defect.

It could have been a dream.

You could be making the story up.

You could have imagined it.

You may have developed a greater hearing range.

It wasn’t the whistle you heard.

Aguest, I don't think it is defective; there is a way to test if it's working and today, it was back to normal; I didn't hear it. If I'm an exception, why is this the only time I heard it?

Gladiator, I guess I could be a dog or have a defect. It wasn't a dream because my head is still hurting. Not making it up. I couldn't have imagined it because I have no imagination.

Outlaw, if I do, you'll be the first to know.

Hellpuppy, do you think the sound would play backward if I aim it at myself?

I wrote the company and they said something about I could have felt a pressure wave. I didn't feel anything...I heard it.

I was aiming it at devil dog from next door - he wants to hurt me and he's winning.

What I think happened was the frequency output of the gadget might have temporarily changed due to power voltages, wiring, etc and it was enough to cause you disorientation or head pressure.

It may not be the only time, dear one (again, peace to you!). It may occur again. I personally have NO doubt that some can hear dog whistles. My hearing test for my Class B license said my hearing was far, far out of the range of "average" human hearing. My husband says my hearing blows him away... and I often hear things long, long before my puppies (who I swear can hear spiders crawling) hear. Believe me, I wake THEM up due to noises in the night much more often than they wake ME up - LOLOLOL!

But seriously, the Psalmist quoted (at Psalm 40:6) our Lord saying, to God as to himself and his vessel:

"my ears you have opened up".

The LXX (Septuagint) states it as:

"a body you have prepared for me"

I know my ears have been opened/body prepared, dear one. Perhaps similar is occurring with you. But no reason to despair if it hasn't occurred again; exercise patience. If He's involved, the Most Holy One of Israel will not withhold from you something you SHOULD/He WANTS you to have.

There is a time for everything under the sun. Sometimes, we have to be content with the portion/food we have at the time... and let that satisfy us until we receive again.

Well if dog dazer is trying to tell me something, it's probably that it doesn't bother the dog, only me, and the cops were right - got to buy a gun and kill him, but wait until he actually attacks. Looks like I'll be moving, once again.
