QUENTIN SAID Posted: Sun Feb 10, 2013 12:41 am Post subject: TEXAS NATIVE SON.... Greetings and salutations fellow travelers. The following is an expanded commentary on my adventures. To Wit: The day before hospital I had fallen off the front steps smacking my head against the house, that was in the morning. That evening stumbled over a root falling backwards flat on my back and once again smacking my head on the ground. My wife, daughter and Terry { with whom I had coffee on the day of falling}kept on telling me I needed to be in hospital. Went the hospital the next morning. At the hospital they found the following: Was quickly going into kidney failure. Doctors talked about dialysis Was in congestive heart failure Acutely de-hydrated Acutely enemic...gave me two units of blood Traces of blood in the stool, which called for being scoped { there is a funny story behind that, behind, I'm so funny }, stomach, colon. That Doctor removed 10 to 12 polyps. No blockage or bleeding found. Hospital Doctor's took me off Oxycotin I was taking for chronic pain, 10mg extended release twice daily. Also was taking hydrocodon 10/325 three times a day. They allowed that to continue. Had follow up visits with parasitologist, heart Doctor and Pain Doctor. Pain Doctor now has me on morphine 30mg extended release twice a day. In fact the Pain Doctor wanted me to take the oxy 3 TIMES A DAY for two weeks 10mg extended release. He didn't agree with the hospital. After we had a come to God meeting { not a pleasant sight to see, sometimes you have to stand your ground } he switched to the morphine. His reason,or more likely reason to cover his butt, they hadn't tryed it first. The oxy was shutting my body down. Not having any problems with the morphine. CoCo, your phone call and Shelby's was most appreciated, SD7 we have got to get together, you only live twenty miles from me, and Terry, what can you say about a GOOD friend like him. Hard to express in words. He is my oldest long standing friend and I do mean FRIEND. What did I learn from all this? Well, this is the third time I've knocked on heavens door. The ONLY reason I continue to walk above ground is my family and Terry who saw what I could, or wouldn't. That's the fleshly side. On the spiritual side I sense the Creator has more for me to do in this world before I take leave. What, I don't know. The Lord will tell me when He's ready. Three times I came to the brink of death and was turned back from it's embrace. Stay safe friends, be aware of your health and LISTEN to those who love you. They see what you can't or wont see. _________________ Vinegar tasts better in freedom than honey in slavery How can you unterstand a thing unless you know it? TEC SAID Already told you elsewhere, but am glad you're still here. Good on your family and Terry for helping with that. Doctors do mess up in the prescriptions. My husband's did for him once too, and I love our doctor (doctors actually, we have a husband and wife team), but I do not think they can't make mistakes. You do have to stand your ground and advocate for yourself as well. Peace to you, and take care of yourself, tammy |

AGUEST SAID Wow. On all fronts, dear Q (peace, and SO good to have you back!). Wow the most as to taking oxycontin AND hydrocondone (Norco) at the same time! I can't take Norco at all... but I LOVED oxycontin. I heard from my Lord, though, NOT to renew the prescription. Obeying was hard, lemme tell you, 'cause that's some good "stuff"! Hearing what you've shared as to what it was doing to your body... I am SO glad I listened! (And so, would tell folks that in ADDITION to listening to your loved ones... which you should certainly do if they are concerned... listen to the Master, because HE will tell you, too!). So, sounds like you got a lot of stuff taken care of... unrelated to your falls. I hate to say it but GOOD FOR THOSE FALLS. I'm sorry, I would never want ANYONE to fall and potentiall hurt themselves, but if you hadn't you may not have become aware of the REAL problems your body was experiencing. So... glad, yes. Peace to you... and your dear household... and may JAH bless and keep you ALL! YSSFS of Christ, SA |

ZOE SAID OMG, good that you are ok now Quentin and I hope you will be able to treat your pain without drugs as much in the future. I am new here so don't know that much about you and why you have pain but I can assure you the painkillers just add more problems. I have chronic extreme pain daily so I certainly can sympathize with you and hope you can find a way to deal with pain so you don't damage your organs. Lucky you having so many who care about you |

QUENTIN SAID Hello Zoe pleased to meet you. I'm the crazy uncle who drops around from time to time. "...but I can assure you the painkillers just add more problems"...{ aside to Shelby, yeah that oxy was good stuff, but it was beginning to interfere with my ability to think clearly as well. Glad your off of them too ]...back to Zoe, I'm afraid that pain killers will be with me the rest of my life. I am not a good candidate for any surgery, would prop ably kill me. Shelby no need to feel remorse about the falls. When I had the one out back I fell flat on my back. Hit the ground so hard I could;nt walk up right. Our Deity is not above kicking us around a bit when needed, it jump starts our brain. When our loved ones and friends can't get through to us he will. Thanks for your comments Just Mom. There are those who would not give us the time of day. I keep my own time, if they have a malfunction well, that's their problem, not mine. About 5:30 here time to get my day started. May the Creator bless your day and work through you to bless other's. _________________ Vinegar tasts better in freedom than honey in slavery How can you unterstand a thing unless you know it? CHARIKLO SAID Question, I've just seen this. I hadn't realised things were so bad, and I'm so glad you're back, and if not totally ok, at least better and functioning. I have to be careful with painkillers. I react very strongly to them, and anything with codeine in trips me out. I usually stick with paracetamol, and that very sparingly(might be Tylenol with you.) Anyway, Quentin, all the best to you, and take care. X |

QUENTIN SAID Thank you Chariklo....Pain Doctor has taken me off Morphine, was having blured and double vision, He wants to try Hydromorphone 2mg instant release every eight hours for 2 weeks. This is getting OLD. Hydrocodone 10/325 is the pain med I do best with. Sigh, back to square one next week, as far as the pain medication goes. _________________ Vinegar tasts better in freedom than honey in slavery How can you unterstand a thing unless you know it? CHARIKLO SAID This is probably a way out wacky idea, but I have a friend who, like you, is in constant chronic pain, and she tried acupuncture, not instead of, but as well as, the medication. She got a lot of relief from it. It really helped. The thing about that kind of alternative treatment is no drugs involved, so it can't do any harm, and doesn't conflict with medication. Just thought it might be worth a mention in case it might help with the pain and be worth a try. You never know. |

JUSTMOM SAID Yes dear Quentin.... I do take hydrocodone when I NEED to. I definitely could get hooked on them so I take them sparingly these days. They help pain for me as well. I am going to try acupuncture Char...as living here there are many to choose from. I hear that is it good for pain relief also. I have muscle spasms and I'm hoping it helps it. WOW! Amazing how we're all falling apart LOL...I abused my body in my younger days and pushed probably too hard. But I figured what the hell...I wasn't supposed to grow old in this system so I never gave it a second thought. Want to take it easy for my older years. We'll see how that goes LOL Take care everyone Glad your still here for us all Justmom |

CHARIKLO SAID Only thing is, justmom, do check an acupuncturist out, especially if you have lots to choose from. By and large, they are genuine, but there are always charlatans. Do they have an organisation over with you where they are licensed and approved, one well-respected whose mark is an assurance of quality? |
