Peace to you all! Slept like a LOG last night (so did puppies - LOL!) but up for today's appointment. Thought I'd post a pic for the naysayer(s), though, as well as the peace of mind of you other dear ones. Here's yours truly and dear 'Mom (mornin', luv, and peace to you!) at Axum airport (with dear 'Mom looking as coiffed as ever and me looking QUITE "through" by this time - LOLOL!):

K, gotta run but will try to post more later. Might need to nap a bit first when I return but I WILL get a synopsis up before the day is over, so thanks for your patience.

Peace, chikkens!

Hi Shels, I can see you are bursting to tell us all about your adventure lol. Lovely picture and see that YOU had to stand on a step to look taller lol. How cute and you both look great.
There was NO DOUBT in my mind or most others as to you taking this trip and being in Ethiopia??? I don't understand why Zid posted that and doubted it??

I don't think anyone here apart from Zid doubted that you were really and truly there, and Armand kept us up to date every step of the way.

Only thing is, many of us, perhaps most of us, are bursting not only to know everything you can tell us but to learn just what the mission was that was so quickly accomplished! :D

You both look beautiful, long trip or not.

I also love the pink sneakers, and the added height from the step, lol.

Peace,

Wait, did dear tec just talk 'hood to us??!!!! Well, doo-dah! You GO, girl! LOLOLOL!

Peace and yeah, hot pink sneaks! You know, to go with the hot pink rain jacket? That covered the hot pink sweater? Which was off and in my bag that that time... due to numerous hot flashes? LOLOLOL!

Don't ask me what I was thinkin', girl, all that pink. I think all of the "heat" had affected my vision or sumthin'...

Peace!

Shellama, who looked like a 5'2" pepto-bismol "shorty" (which is also just a girl in general, right?) at one point...

Hey Shamalamadingdong ! Glad to hear you two got back safely.

Gurl, I ain't tryin' to start no "ish" with this comment, but why don't you send the above pic to a certain someone on the other board that acccused you and your travel partner of being the same person just because your avatars resembled each other. I know you know who I'm referring to!!

Heheheheh... now, now, dear Miz Shirley Girl... LOLOLOL! I wouldn't think that at all, girl - LOLOLOL! But I wouldn't be surprised if "he" had already come here and checked it, given who all might be in the [invisible] "peanut gallery" and the skepticism already displayed.

SURELY the day will come when those folks will figure out that I was tellin' 'em the truth when I said I don't lie anymore with matters related to God, Christ, etc.

Sigh. Ah, well... their issue, not mine, you know?

Peace, chile... and thanks for thinking of us, girl!

YSFS of Christ,

Shelb

More pics... and then I'm gonna leave some for dear 'Mom to post (again, her's are WAY bedda!):

In this first one, that little dollbaby girl in the middle came up and in the SOFTEST voice, whispered "Sweet-Sweet?" and kept touching her lips and repeating it. I didn't get it at first and then I realized she wanted candy. And... I HAD CANDY (in case of diabetes "crash" - LOLOL!). I had... RED VINES!!!... red licorice, for those who don't know what Red Vines are... which she and her companions had never seen before:

Image

Since it was new, a couple of the older kids were reluctant/refused to take it, but I convinced them to try it and... voila! The boy to the far right in this next pic (and another older boy) took it and after trying the tiniest of pieces, said, "Yes! Good!" LOLOLOL!

And so, once they saw that the two older boys liked it... ALL of the kids wanted some! Here I am standing with a bunch of little boys holding the licorice I gave them at the entry to the archeological site of King Kaleb's tomb (which is underground... AND has bats! Don't ASK me how our guide, Sisai ("Sis-Eye"), and 'Mom got me to go down there... but they did!).

Image

Note, Ethiopia is 7700 above sea level... and Axum even higher... so the wind was blowing... and the sun was REALLY bright - LOLOL!

Here is dear 'Mom and our WONDERFUL lead tour guide, Mebrahtu ("Muh-Brrrah-Too")... aka "Duche" (Doo-chay), in front of St. Mary's church:

Image

He is devout, although quite "modern". But he observed all of the necessary protocols and respects at the church, which was impressive for a young man of 23. His mother is a widow, and he has a younger brother and sister, all of whom he supports (his siblings do quite well in school so he refuses to let them quit to work. He takes his responsibilities for them and his mother QUITE seriously. He's a hustler but a good and fair one!).

And... the chapel were the "Ark" is kept, with the guardian (in gold robes) standing outside the chapel but inside the compound fence talking to his assistant (with white shoulder robe) getting a brief breath of fresh air (this is about as close as folks can usually get. Well, up to the parapet railing just a few feet away):

Image

My understanding is that he [usually] cannot leave the compound but can step outside for some fresh air in an area accessed only by his attendants, who must stay outside the fencing. He did come outside the compound for us, for a very brief interchange and exchange, which I am not privileged to share the details of here, sorry.

Note, the "Ark" is kept in a chamber underground. The actual Ark (of the Covenant) isn't there. Rather, the story is that there is a box made of 3-inch thick solid gold on all sides that was said to have been used to transport the tablets when they were taken from Jerusalem by Menelik, the son of Solomon and Makida (the Queen of Sheba) because the Ark itself would have been too cumbersome to sneak out of the City undetected. Per my Lord, this is accurate.

Dear 'Mom will post more this weekend, then I'll add a few more.

Peace to you all!

A slave of Christ,

SA

And there you go. . . .

Ah - huh...

So she still only spent a total of 8 hours on the ground there - minus getting thru customs/security, getting a ride, and oncoming darkness - sunset would have occurred at 6:40 PM and nautical twilight at 7:29 PM, cutting down the hours of effectiveness by around 3 hours...

Unless she was using torches to find her way... ::))
