Peace to you all! What was "this"? It was something Christ said... that was just too unacceptable to the ears of some he was speaking to. If it happened with him, it will happen with us. Some will be able to take our words and move past the "pain" or unacceptability of them... to the TRUTH and BENEFIT of them... and some won't. A slave is not greater than his/her master. We, though, are only slaves, not the Master... and as such have to tell others of the GOOD news of the kingdom... while leaving their ability to RECEIVE that news... between them and the Master, Christ. Because, as he said, not all can or will receive it.

Hi Pup, I can't say for certain but I think Shelby may have been referring to John 6.66.

In which case, in verse 63, Jesus had said "It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh has nothing to offer. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life."

In verses 64-66, he went on "But there are some of you who do not believe", and John explains that "Jesus knew from the outset those who did not believe, and who it was that would betray him." Then Jesus said, "This is why I told you that no-one could come to me unless the Father allows him."

Verse 66 ends, in my translation, "After this many of his disciples left him and stopped going with him."

Yes, that, Char (regarding eat my flesh and drink my blood), but there are also any of the times people left off from following Him because they did not want to hear/do as He said.
