The demons named Legion begged the Christ not to send them there. (Luke 8:31) There is a fallen star that has the key to the pit of the abyss. (Rev 9:1) There is the angel of the abyss named Abaddon/Apollyon. (Rev 9:11) There is a wild beast that ascends out of the abyss. (Rev 11:7; 17:8) There is an angel with the key of the abyss where Satan is hurled. (Rev 20:1) Not sure if this is the same as the fallen star and angel in Rev 9. The WTBTS explanation seems vague: Quote: From the Greek word a′bys·sos, meaning “exceedingly deep” or “unfathomable, boundless.” It is used in the Christian Greek Scriptures to refer to a place or condition of confinement. It includes the grave but is not limited to it.—Lu 8:31; Ro 10:7; Re 20:3. I've never been satisfied with that explanation. Not sure I need to know, but would like to understand this a bit more. |

The abyss is the deepest part of the "world of the dead"... or "womb of Hagar", dear LQ (peace to you, dear one!). It is farthest removed from JAH's direct light/spirit/energy... and, therefore, it's darkness is "dense" (i.e., absolutely NO light... spirit/dynamic energy of JAH).
