Can a person argue with the Creator? Will God strike you dead, if you do not agree with him. Is it ok to try and change Gods mind?

Can you bargain with Him? Your thoughts.

I'm sure we can argue with the Creator. Discuss, disagree, question... might be more respectful (and deserving) for the One who has given you life, and who has a wealth of knowledge far beyond our own.

No.

I don't see why not.

I don't think so.

(unless you are thinking bargain, as in covenant, promise, oath... and in that case, Christ said that we should not make those, we should simply let our yes be yes, and our no be no)

Christ also said that anything we ask in his name (which i think means in the spirit of Christ as well) will be given to us, and that kind of leaves out the need for bargaining.

Curious to see others' thoughts.

Peace,
tammy

WILLIAM SAID

When I was born I was very very sick and my Mom vowed to God she would never eat another creame puff if He let me live. At the time she was Catholic.

After she converted (when I was 5) I would get nervous when she was around creame puffs.

Now she shuns me and I have no idea if she eats creame puffs or not. But, I'm still kicking!

Several argued, reasoned with, and even changed the mind and heart of the Most Holy of Israel, JAH of Armies, dear William (peace to you!) and without consequence or repercussion but even a blessing. Abraham (as to Sodom/Gomorrah); Moses (as to Israel); Job (as to his own righteousness); even my Lord... as to the "cup" he had to "drink."

And as dear tec (peace, my sister!) offered we can too... so long as our motive is right (I.e., love, justice, mercy, righteousness and things like that).

JAH is not an exacting God as many make Him out to be, but merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness. As was and is His Son, the Holy One of Israel, my Lord, JAHESHUA, the Chosen One of JAH (MischaJah)... and with That One's help we should strive to be.

I hope this helps and, again, peace to you!

Your servant and a slave of Christ,

SA

Will, that is both funny and sad, at the same time. Obviously sad because of the shunning.

JUSTMOM SAID

Yes I agree with the comments...

I too heard Moses plea on behalf of Israel when Jah asked to just wipe them out and make a nation out of Moses himself. I believe it was that "Moses softened the face of Jah so as to spare them alive."
Jah even felt regret over the evil that he had spoken of doing to his people.

The lesson for me is that "Never give up on anybody" and plead on behalf of all to be shown mercy as he has shown on us dispite our hard-headedness and stubborness.

No, not what I had in mind. Abraham's bargining with God was off the cuff. To me it was like Abraham was saying; Whoa, hold on Your El Elyon, El Shaddia. For the sake of the hundered? All the way down to for the sake of one? Except for Lot living in town and Abraham having already pulled their buns out of the oven, what should he care about the Cities of the Plain?

Oh. Well, yes, in that case. God considered Abraham his friend, right? Friends speak, even if that is to disagree and attempt to barter/reason with their friend if they think their friend is going to do wrong.

LOZ SAID

Over the years I've had plenty to say to my Heavenly Father. It's varied between very respectful and loving prayers to my raging about the things happening. These days, now that life is calmer it's pretty easy going.

I've always been honest with him, recited rhetoric is not my style. The bottom line is though, because of how much I know that he cares and loves me I don't want to hurt him. Not ever. That, kind of moderates any despair or rage I feel towards life, love, death, pain, loss etc. At my lowest points I felt him there holding onto me. Makes the relationship very precious doesn't it?

Loz x

I think that sometimes God MAKES us "argue' with Him, so that we understand Him and certain things better.
I don't think we can ever "persuade" Him to change, although He may let us THINK we did.
