Noni, thank you for your much fuller explanation. I can see that my satirical response, born of a certain type of British irony and wit, doesn't always translate and cross the Atlantic in a way that helps understanding. It's my instinctive reaction to certain situations, and I apologise to those who don't share my background and experience, including you, Loz, because others' reactions go a long way to explaining your own.

Thank you again, Noni, for your very helpful input there. Back to the topic: living under a theocracy is, for me, probably one step worse than living under a totalitarian dictatorship. Sheer hell!
