ISMAIL Aliyas Maajo is adamant about who he blames for the massacre that wiped out most of his family. “The peshmerga,” he spat, his eyes blazing, referring to Iraqi Kurdistan’s US-backed armed forces. “We trusted them because they had all the weapons the Iraqi Army left when they deserted. The only force in Sinjar was the peshmerga.”
