| Post subject: | Higher Education: The "Key" to Unlearning the WTBTS? |
To the Household of God, Israel, and all those who go with... may you all have peace! Recently, a dear one said to me: Quote: "You are lucky to have had a life before you went into the Watchtower.. Maybe that's what helped you escape the mentality" And I have to totally agree with that: I was lucky... and that DID help me get out mentally, to some degree. Because I had knowledge of things OUTSIDE/BESIDES the WTBTS and its teachings before I went in. Not that I fell back on all of that when I came out but having changed my thinking going IN I had the capacity to change it again, coming out. Still, in a forward direction, not a backward one. Having also got an education after coming out (actually, continuing one I'd started before going in)... and knowing of others who've done so (AND some who had such even before going in), I also have come to know that higher education... while ABSOLUTELY beneficial, either to help one understand how the world "thinks" and/or perhaps help one secure less physical but gainful employment as they age... does not get one FULLY out (of the JW mentality), but only changes SOME of what one knows and SOME of how one thinks. It does NOT change the MINDSET, though. When it comes to changing the mindset, one has to do that themselves. Changing the mindset can be very difficult, though. Certainly without additional education, but even WITH it. I mean, it's called a mindSET. Meaning one's mind... is SET; certain ways of thinking and ideas are SET... in one's mind. But also difficult... if (1) one isn't honest about one's CURRENT mindset; (2) one doesn't recognize the NEED to change one's mindset; (3) one doesn't know HOW to change one's mindset; and (4) one doesn't WANT to change one's mindset. Most often, numbers 1, 2, and 4 are often what stands in the way of one changing one's mindset. OR... one doesn't have the right "help" TO change it. But one CAN change it. And not with help from higher academic education, but with education and help from a much "higher" Source: Christ. Coming to know Christ involves a great deal of changing one's mindset, especially what one may have developed as the result of religion, including the religion of their parents. Especially if that religion was/is (what the world refers to as) "chrisitan"... and particularly if it was as a JW. Because those such religions who deign to TEACH about Christ... don't KNOW him, themselves. And so they teach what they don't KNOW... misleading others into very "set" minds, even very "strongly entrenched" thing. Of course, they may know some things OF him... things ABOUT him... perhaps things they've read (in the Bible)... but when he said "This means everlasting life" he didn't mean "taking in knowledge of" or reading ABOUT him. He meant KNOWING him... intimately... as a man knows a woman, for example, in physical marriage but in SPIRIT. Which is why those who DO know him are called his "Bride" and he their "husband[ly owner]." The ONLY way one can come to know Christ... in THIS regard (i.e., union with him such they, with him, are ONE spirit, as a man and woman become ONE), is NOT through higher academic education... OR through those who lead in religion... from HIM. As HE said: "Take MY yoke upon you and learn from ME, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your (spirits)." Matthew 11:29 And that is why so many who leave the WTBTS still possess a WTBTS mindSET... EVEN where they may have attained a higher academic education: they have not UNlearned that harlot's ways... because they have not LEARNED... directly from CHRIST. The Door he is is not closed, though; indeed, it is standing WIDE open, even now. And it is the task of those who ARE joined to him, who ARE part of his Bride, who HEAR his voice... to join HIS voice in saying, to ALL who are wishing and thirsting to "Come!" As John wrote: "Let the one who HEARS... SAY... 'Come!'" Revelation 22:17 Come... to what... and Whom? Religion? No. Come... to "rivers of waters of LIFE"... and Christ... who IS the Life ("Come to ME, all you who are toiling and loaded down!" "Let he that is thirsting, come to ME and drink!"). In that light, while I would certainly encourage any who can do it to get an academic education... because of the temporary benefits of doing so (even temporary they ARE beneficial)... I would even MORE encourage any who wishes... and is thirsting... to get an EVERLASTING education. Which education can be had from only One: the HOLY One of Israel and Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:17)... JAHESHUA, the Son and Chosen One of JAH (MischaJah)... from whose innermost parts such "streams of LIVING water" flow... and from whose leaves, he the Root of Jesse, Sprout!... the TRUE Vine (John 15:2)... one must EAT... to live... FOREVER (Genesis 3:22). In that light, and in obedience TO his words... to those HEARING... I share in the invitation of the Spirit and his Bride and say, to those with ears to hear: "Come! TAKE... LIFE's (Christ's) 'water'... the holy spirit of God, the MOST HOLY One of Israel, JAH of Armies... which 'water' is HIS blood, breath, and seed... which He has granted His SON to pour out... from That One's innermost parts... upon ALL who are wishing and thirsting... FREE!" Peace to you ALL! Servant to the Household of God, Israel, and all those who go with... and a slave of that True Vine, Christ, SA |
