Then, again (and hope these come out), from the South Rim...

Took 'em all with the cell phone. Dear Hubby took WAY more with the Nokia. May post more, but prolly not any with me in 'em (sorry, I don't like how I photograph - maybe with the pups, my foot, or sumthin'...).

Forgive the size (then again, might help give a better sense of the size of the thing)

Enjoy and peace to you ALL!

Shellamar

Oh, these are the CELL phone shots, luv (peace!). NUTHIN' like the NOKIA shots!

Funny thing: don't the views almost look... surreal? Maybe even "painted" (like theater backdrops)? They looked like that in real life, too! Dear hubby and I were like... are we REALLY seeing this??? We were. I found out during the 4-hour mule ride... 2.5 miles to the bottom... then back up again. One of THE most wonderful things I've EVER done... that I won't EVER do again! My body is STILL trying to recover - LOLOLOL!

Had a wonderful little petite mule-y, though. Ellie. She was a HOOT! Sweet as pie, but with a mind of her own, you betcha! Easy to ride (and if any of you are considering it, please keep in mind: the mules walk on the OUTSIDE of the trail, AWAY from the cliff. So, yer up on this mule, it makes a turn to go down the next level... and all you can see to your left is... nuthin'. Talk about yer OMG moments!! Just gotta pull that rein and get their butts closer to the inside of the trail. Which is only about 4-5 feet wide... :8O

Of COURSE, luv! Ya'll don't think Id'a went to the Grand Canyon and not brought you back a glimpse or two, right? Seriously?? LOLOLOL!

Glad you like 'em!

Peace!

Shellamar, on her own.... winking at dear 'Mom (peace, luvee!)

Not sure what you are suggesting Shelby...
If you mean that those mountains were ate one point underwater, that may will be the case BUT that was 10's of thousands of years ago...

Gorgeous Photos Shelby. Thanks for sharing. Something sure created that. What do Scientists say created the Grand Canyon?

I remember going there myself and just gasping when I looked over the edge and saw it. Pictures cannot express it as well as in person.

Awesome taking a tour with mules, I would have loved that. My cousins live in Phoenix Arizona and they hike it every year.

Didn't know you visited one of my fave spots on the planet!

Went their on a family trip when I was high school age, absolutely loved it! I have 3 poster of the Grand Canyons in my apt, even one in the kitchen!

Since my family had the luck of the Griswalds when they travel it always rains just about everywhere we went so, wished I saved them and had them blown up, but my dad took several pics of the Canyons with a rainbow in the background.

Perhaps, dear P (peace to you!). Just sharing that perhaps there WAS a global flood. Not WHEN, luv. So, not disputing the time frame (although, what is time to JAH?). That would be another thread altogether.

Glad the rest of you were able to enjoy! An awesome sight, yes!

Dear Ms. Shirl... peace, chile'... and it rained while we were there, too. Actually poured the first night. Dear hubby, the pups, and I huddled in the tent throughout one of the most awesome (i.e., loud, bright, and long) thunder and lighting storms I've ever experienced. Hubs, the little pup, and I LOVED it! The other three not so much. Layla crawled under the blankets and went to sleep. Liyah finally went to sleep (after several hours of rolling her eyes at me as if to say "What the H*LL were you two THINKING, bringing us out here??!!"). Louie never went to sleep but paced and shivered. Second night a bit of the same but they all did much better.

We never actually got to camp due to the rain... but we did have a couple of campfires... and LOVED the entire experience! And saw some awesome rainbows!

Will post more soon!

Peace!

Shellamar... on her own...

You gotta post some of those rainbow pics then since I didn't save the old Polaroids from the family trip.

BTW, all thru the trip my mother kept saying ad nauseum, "Jehovah did this, isn't this wonderful, only Jah". . . . yada yada yada

But the thing about the flood is the Grand Canyons are in Arizona, I thought the whole world was covered with rain, how did the middle of a state get such a carved out area, how'd that happen, but then again there is a color progression on the boulders which is quite even which does signify some kind of water loss, I just don 't think it's from the flood of Noah's days

I understand, dear Ms. Shirl (peace girl!). I hope you dear ones understand ME, though: as the thread suggests... maybe there WASN'T a global flood... and as the Grand Canyon suggests... maybe there WAS.

For ME, since I have FAITH in CHRIST... and HE apparently believed there WAS (he certainly referred to it!)... and he has NEVER lied to ME... then I must go with what HE said/says.

And he said that not only did Noah build an ark (for WHAT?), got on it (WHY?), and saved HIS household (FROM what and by what MEANS?)... HIS return would JUST LIKE those days of Noah... folks STILL not "see[ing] it coming."

Since I have a household that MIGHT be saved because of MY faith, then, and MAINTAINING faith can be VERY difficult in the world we NOW live in... I find it easier to just go with what HE said/says... and put faith in what... and Whom... HE put faith in... rather than rack MY tiny little brain trying to "figure it out." As far as I'm concerned, if HE said, commanded it, referred to it, what have you... it IS so. IS true. WITHOUT a single doubt.

And my experience has been that he also PROVES it. Maybe not when I/WE want him to... but he NEVER leaves himself WITHOUT witness. So, I'm patient, luv. Because I know science will prove HIM true... as it proves JAH true... though every MAN a liar.

Sorry for the commentary but, well, it was yet another opportunity to bear witness to my dear Lord... and as you KNOW, I don't like to pass THOSE up - LOLOLOL!

Peace, my dear sistah!

And yeah, dear JW mom would a got on my nerves, too! I'm not one to pass up opportunities to praise JAH... but if one allows, places like the Grand Canyon can do that all by itself, without much commentary from us. Maybe an "oooh" or an "aaah" or even an "OMG"... but those actually suffice, IMHO.

Your servant and a slave of Christ,

Shel

Is it possible the phenomenon is in Arizona... due to the type of terrain (soft, uncompacted earth and LOTS of clay)... which would easily wash away under the force of a deluge of water "draining" by, say, what is known today as the Colorado River... into the Pacific ocean? Similar to what was left behind in, say, the Sahara... after drying up/draining into the Mediterranean and Atlantic?

Not that I'm a geologist. Just trying to listen. As I did with the Paper.

Peace to you, all!

A slave of Christ,

Shellamar

The photos are beautiful.

I am not a geologist either, but waters DO erode rock and reveal different layers. If the rock were clay and soil, then it makes sense to me that it could be washed away faster/easier than solid rock/stone, leaving what remains when the waters receded.

Anyone ever seen pics of Hopewell Rock in New Brunswick. (I grew up there for my first 13 years, and my brother still lives there). The appearance is similar re: the erosions on the rocks from the ocean that still rises up the rocks when the tide is in. That is a very small scale example though of what oceans/water can do.

Fascinating, Shelby!

Peace to you,
your sister and servant, and fellow slave of Christ,
tammy
