Shelby, I think we are both right. Keep in mind that Genesis 1:1 is just an introduction to Genesis 1. A prologue of sorts that should be considered completely separate. It includes the entirety of God's creation from the beginning to the end of time. Genesis 1:2 is a step backward in time to establish the setting for the first creative day.

You can literally grey out the rest of the Bible and Genesis 1:1 will still include it all, it's just "folded up." So, thank you for the correction because it really does enrich my original argument.

Sab, as preposterous as that may sound it makes sense because without Gen 1:1 the story could never have been told. Therefore, everything that followed it was nurtured by the original thought.

However, thought processes do change and have a way of evolving. And in my personal experience, truth does change.

YES... because Genesis 1:1 is speaking of the spirit AND physical realms and not just the physical universe, dear one (peace to you!). Mass and matter, however, is a property of the physical universe. And so, again, what we're talking about here (in essence, the creation of matter and when/how that might have occurred) starts with the Light: energy. The Higgs "field" (the existence of which the existence of the Higgs boson is needed to prove) would be something that came AFTER the Light "pierced" the "Darkness." Something that such "piercing" would bring into existence... as well as the Higgs (and other) boson... which would also then come into existence. And the relation between the two explaining how mass/matter come into existence... from "nothing."



I realize that many believe that the words "in the beginning," are meant to convey "at the start"... or the time when creation began. It does not, though, dear one. So as not to hijack this thread, though, I will expound on that further here:
